Summary

I've been a die-hard fan boy of the KoF series since 94, which kept on getting just better and better (96, 97, 98, 2K, 2K2). Right after that, the KoF series started going down the hill.
Le coup de grāce was actually KoF XII, which was my biggest deception and a big let down.
My biggest concern, and the main reason to why I'm a KoF player, is because of the Combo System, followed tightly by the Storyline.

Now I finally got my copy of K.o.F XIII (waited like a good little boy for the console release, thus I've never played it in the arcades, but up to date and aware of everything about it. Without further bla bla, here's my little review:

Rejoice! It's official: KoF IS BACK!!
KoF XIII is the answer to my (and all KoF's fans around the world) prayers. Not only did the game shockingly improve from its predecessor as far as EVERYTHING is concerned, but it comes literally packed with a mass of goodies, extra console exclusive characters, heart stopping art style, an art gallery so wide you'll get lost in the sweetness, to keep you hooked on your plasma screen for hours of non-stop fun.
You'll be glad to learn that it plays JUST like the old days, mixed to drool-over gorgeous graphics, remastered tracks, and the new too-cool-for-words NeoMax.
SNK-Playmore really went all out this time, focusing mainly (about darn time) on fans's demands and wishes, thus successfully restoring KoF back to its full glory.
Whether you're a long time fan of the series, or a fighting games lover, you're bound to love this, and get a run for your money.
This game is worth every single penny spent.

Summary

I'm a MAJOR King of Fighters fan, but not a professional player. I've been playing this series for years because I love the mythology, character designs, and best of all the music. I was really into the series until 2003 came around. That title was so bad I really had lost my taste for the series and stuck with the old games.

King of Fighters XI (HUGE improvement over '03) was the next one in the series but due to some unfortunate circumstances it couldn't be brought over to America and was very hard to find; so I never got around to playing it much. It used the team-switch system from '03 but added dream cancels and really unique cast of characters that still to this day aggrivates me that such characters have never shown up again(Duck King, B. Janet, etc.)

KOF XII was the first HD KOF for the next-generation. The game was real bad but had some promising concepts. The new art direction reminded me of SNK's other fighting franchise: Art of Fighting. Major problem with this game was that it lacked any story, moves, and hell - a boss. It was basically a demo for KOF XIII, but that's kind of tarnishing the good name of KOF XIII because I'd rather just play the demo then look at KOF XII again.

King of Fighters XIII is a KOF fans dream and should already be apart of their collection. For those not into the series it's going to be hard to get into because the combo mechanics are very execution heavy.

Great cast of characters, vibrant backgrounds, online(haven't touched it - no GOLD), loads of missions and trials to grind out. The full package is here and this game is hands down my Game of the Year 2011 and favorite fighter of the past decade.

Summary

The first King of Fighters game i played was KOFXI and after that one i started to play all of them. i've played KOF 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 2000, 2001, 2002, and when i heard they were coming out with KOF13, I knew i had to get it since i heard it was supposed to be better than KOF12. KOF13 was the best one i've played because it reminds me of the other KOF's. It took all the good components of KOF and amped up the sprites and gameplay to make it the Best KOF of the series. Its always awesome that KOF games consist of alot of characters that have their very own part in the storyline which adds depth to the game and makes you want to play the game to reveal what the story is. I've spent alot of time coloring the characters the way i like which is awesome so you can make them look even cooler, the only thing that sucks about it, is that you have to fight 40 battle with the character to unlock all the colors.
