Steam sale, got this game for 5 dollars. Was it worth it?

Summary

Well, I would say both yes and no. For starters, according to steam I beat the game in only 8 hours. Is 8 hours for a game really worth it? I have to weigh that heavily, because I honestly think games should offer more value than that. If I purchased this game for 50 or 60 dollars I think I would have been upset that it ended so quickly.

At the same time however, the game was really well done. The graphics were amazing. The feel and gadgets were really well done, and for a game to be based off of a book I would say they nailed it on the head. But in terms of content, it kinda fails miserably.

Some things worth mentioning... This is not a free-roaming game like fallout or dead island, it is a linear action shooter. Coming across ammo in the game was difficult nearing the end. I played the game on normal mode and I made it to the end of the game with basically 0/0 0/0 0/0 0/0 on every single weapon I was carrying aside from grenades. (Which as it turns out I never even used) I mean, the mutants move too quickly and rush you, so you can't really use grenades on them, and going silent seems to be better vs other humans... so I'm not really sure the purpose of these pipe bomb grenades. They seemed entirely out of place in this game.

Buying/selling with "pristine" ammunition in the game was kind of cool, but I'm not sure why other things weren't used as currency, like liquor or something.

Nightvision was cool, but was also wonky at the same time. Sometimes I felt like I had to turn on my flashlight WHILE USING nightvision to see in the dark hahahaha so that kind of defeated the purpose. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. I'm going to have to give a thumbs down on the nightvision.

Gas masks were cool, but after a while listening to the guy breathing... I was looking in the audio options to shut him up. Sadly that option wasn't there.

If you take enough damage while wearing one, it will break. If you're in an area were you need one, its basically game over unless you find a new one laying around. You'll find a lot of dead dudes and stashes laying around the levels, so the game forces you to explore every nook and cranny. (You aren't going to make it in this game if you only run and gun)

One very annoying thing in this game that I can't get over, is that if you are using a silencer and headshot someone, sometimes they die screaming which will alert other humans if you are trying to be sneaky. This didn't make much sense to me. Shooting a guy in the head and watch blood spurt out, then having them die yelling and screaming, was pretty dumb. It made the silent approaches completely unappealing to me. I ended up just blowing everyone away because every time I tried a silent take-down they would alert the entire area, regardless of headshots, or stabbing someone from behind at point blank range. So, on that note, the game failed miserably.

Cutscene's were far too frequent and far too long in this game, making the actual gameplay feel that much shorter.

In all honestly, I think I would have just preferred to read the book rather than play this. I got bored several times while playing this.

I did enjoy the game for 5 dollars for what it does. However I am still very disappointed that it was only 8 hours long with frequent long cutscenes, while also being extremely linear and lacking in actual gameplay content.

If I bought this game for 50 dollars, I can tell you without much doubt that I would have probably been pissed off and would have wished I purchased the actual book instead of the game. But I bought it for 5 dollars, which might even be cheaper than the actual book is lol. Knowing what I know how after playing the game, if I could go back in time I probably would have just purchased the book.

Sayin' it like it is, as always ~ shelledfade ~

Summary

This game is great, it really succeeds at capturing the right feel for this type of game. The graphics blow my mind every time I play, it supports DX11, SLI and Nvidia 3d vision, so this game will show you what the PC can offer. The feel of the weapons and the movement in general are very satisfying. The sounds are very well done, often confusing what's in the game and what's going on in the house. I would recommend this game to any PC gaming enthusiast, especially one with a fast PC and video card, so you can really take this game to its maximum potential. Load it up and turn off the lights and you will have an experience you won't soon forget. This game I think takes the graphical cake for PC, BF3 is good but I'll have to see what it looks like when they finally get Nvidia 3d vision working. Can't wait for the sequel due out next year.

Summary

First off, I bought this for 3.99 Euros and this might be the best deal I made this year! This game is amazing, the graphics and sound are great, the story and atmosphere are perfect, but it has a lot of bugs... Well, letīs start my review of Metro 2033.

The story of Metro 2033 is amazing, donīt compare this game to Stalker, these two are completely different. In stalker you have a big open world enviroment, with more freedom. Metro 2033 is more story based. The story of metro 2003 is heavy and it has great moments (wich some of them are scary as hell). But the story is more amazing with itīs atmosphere. The atmosphere is amazing.

The graphics and sound are great, the graphics are really good, the light effects and the detail of the Moscow metros are nicelly done. The only negative thing that I found about this game are the bugs and glitches, but nothing to much serious.

I found this game to be very good, and the price is really good.

Metro 2033 is a good game, but unfortunately has a short campaign.

Summary

Metro 2033 is a FPS with brief moments of survival horrors, based on the book by Dmitry Glukhovsky, was developed by 4A Games.

Story

Metro 2033 tells the story of a young man called Artyom and occurs in a post-apocalyptic environment. The action takes place in Russia in the meter of course. Personally I enjoyed the story of the game, especially the two possible endings, both are capable of being the best moment in the history of the game, unfortunately I do not know what the similarity to the book by Dmitry Glukhovsky.

Score: 8.0

Sound

This is in my opinion the weakest point in this game, though the sound isn't bad at all. For me the work on the guns shoots is good. The best moments and when the sound work shows its quality is on heartbeat times, breathing moments, and the fabulous vocal work with that Russian accent.

Score: 7.5

Graphics

Opposite to the Sound, this is in my opinion along with the Gameplay one of the best parts of the game. The textures are very good, I highlight the skin texture and the detail of the mask which I really enjoyed (especially when it starts to break down). The only part that ends up harming the graphic work is in my opinion the eyes, they're static and poorly made. Taking out the eyes problem, the game is very good graphically.

Score: 8.5

Gameplay

In the Gameplay we don't have anything new, just prepare your gun and shoot! However it has little details that make the game experience much better, for example when we are wounded and we have to use the medkits, we can see Artyom opening a small box with syringes and inject them into himself. There are other small innovative details like this but in general it remains a typical fps.

Score: 8.0

In conclusion, Metro 2033 has a very interesting story (I became curious to read the book) and graphically impressive in some aspects. In general is a good game but could never be more than that. You'll only regret not having a multiplayer and the short duration of the campaign.

Overall: 8.0

Summary

ok, Stalker still the best I've ever played of this genre but Metro is great in its own way
I love how Russians/Ukrainians or whoever do these games create such an immersing atmosphere....many got lot to learn from these guys....

Graphics: amazing!, wish I could play very High detailed settings. But looks great on High

Sound: keeps you still and wary.... very necessary to create the proper atmosphere

Story: Keeps you interested

Gameplay: The combination of sneak and open shooter makes this game better than just shoot and kill games out there. Again, wish they keep coming...

Atmosphere, Atmosphere, Atmosphere! I jump off my sit a couple of times, and even in day time:)

Still playing it, but so far, it's great and having played empty and disappointing games with high scores so many times I wonder why Metro, Stalker and others do not get the attention they deserve....

Buy it, it's cheap now, and enjoy@!
